Prev's Story

I was born in the Philippines, I came to the US at the age of 9 and grew up in Aptos, Santa Cruz County, CA. Pursuing a career in Finance, I moved to San Jose, CA.

As an only child, I was raised as a tomboy with my Father teaching me how to box as my first sport. From that moment, I loved to play any competitive activity, especially sports, favoring softball and track and field. This would later help me establish connections and friendships as well as provide some stability and commitment as my parents and I moved often since moving to the US.

I also started singing (Dad's side) and dancing (Mom's side) around the age of 5 when I was first exposed to Motown, Oldies/DooWop & Elvis. I would later enjoy HipHop, Ballroom and Salsa dancing. I also enjoyed playing music, learning to play the piano and drums in Middle and High School, joining the marching band, jazz band & choir. Today I appreciate all forms of music, art and dance. While in College, I started bowling and shooting pool. I currently play in a competitive pool league.

It was while dancing on a Salsa team in 2014 that I would meet Jim for the first time. We never interacted outside of group gatherings. It wasn't until April 2017 when our stars finally aligned. We had drinks (I had a lemonade) and we learned so much about each other; similar experiences, likes in hobbies, movies, sports, comics and games! And of course, music, art and dance!

In that short amount of time, I knew this about Jim... he was a blessing and I thank God every day for bringing this amazing, handsome, strong man, with a gentle soul and kind heart into my life.

Jim's Story

I was born in Anaheim, CA. My father was in the Marine Corp and we moved around a lot. Through multiple cities and schools, I learned how to meet people quickly. I would later meet my closest and long time friends in Gilroy. One final move would find me settling in San Jose, CA and working in Hayward, CA.

As an only child, I was very creative and into activities like drawing, musical instruments and baseball and playing with friends out on the street. My father bought my first art desk when I was 8 and I would eventually earn a degree in Drawing & Painting from SJSU. That same year I started playing baseball. With the exception of 1 year, I played ball all the way through high school. I played music in school, trumpet and sax, concert band, marching band and jazz band, county and state honor bands. When I was a teen I started bowling. I currently play in a competitive bowling league.

It wasn't until college that I began to explore dance, inspired by my mom who did ballet. I tried ballet and jazz for a couple of years. Later I moved into Ballroom and that's where I found Salsa! Enjoying many performances, multiple teams, coaching and creating since - all great times!

As Prev mentioned, we never interacted in the beginning. It wasn't until I saw her going out to the salsa clubs that we began a dialogue beyond the casual "Hello". You can ask us in more detail but I asked her to go dancing and have drinks and here we are!

Every day since, I think about that night when I said to her, "Where have you been all my life?!" I'm grateful to have this beautiful, kind and generous woman in my life.
